Design Fee Structure

General renovation services including complete multi-room or single room designs:

  • Design Fee: $150 / hour including research, design plan, project plan, coordination of contractors, installation, shopping, deliveries, etc.

  • Design Project Setup: To reach the approved design plan and budget, 2-4 hours of design time will be required. If the project doesn’t proceed, these design fees are still due to the designer.

  • Designer Markup: 20% markup on “Trade Only” purchases including fabrics, furniture, rugs, lighting, and other decorative accessories.

  • Design Fee Payment Schedule:

    • 50% of the design fee budget after design plans have been approved,

    • 35% midway through the project,

    • 15% upon completion.

    (Note that fees related to the design project setup are included in the overall project budget.)

  • Other Project-Related Expenses: All project-related expenses including contractors, construction materials, permits, furnishings, and decorative accessories are to be paid to the merchant by the client through their preferred payment method including credit card, debit card, wire transfer, check, Venmo, etc.

All other small-scale partial-room design projects including custom upholstery solutions, window treatments, painting, organizational installation, and decor:

  • Design Fee: $100 to $150 / hour depending on the scale of the project including design plan, project plan, coordination of contractors, installation of decor, deliveries, etc. In some cases, a flat fee for the overall project may be an option.

  • Other Project-Related Expenses: All project-related expenses including contractors, construction materials, permits, furnishings, and decorative accessories are to be paid to the merchant by the client through their preferred payment method including credit card, debit card, wire transfer, check, Venmo, etc.
